News from the bakery News Taster training sessions taking place A group of young people from Prior's Court, who all have autism and learning difficulties, have taken their first steps to becoming Trainee Bakers at Bread & Beyond, joining our very own Artisan Baker, Dylan Needham for their first taster sessions. Only 32% of autistic adults in the UK are currently in paid employment, a figure which hasn't changed for 10 years. Bread & Beyond was born from a desire by Prior's Court to change the outlook for young people with autism by providing valuable work-skills training by teaching young people to make incredible bread. While initially all bread sold in the state-of-the-art Bakery will be made by Artisan Baker, Dylan, our ultimate aim - once they have progressed through all levels of our thorough training programme - is to involve young people with autism in this production process. Depending on their strengths and interests, other young people may also take on front of house roles within our Bakery Shop.
